The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management and Plant Management in supporting designated geographic region. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, staffing, and employment law compliance.  Position is also responsible for maintaining a large volume of record keeping including personnel files, benefits administration, training documentation, safety data, time and attendance records, disciplinary documentation and rewards and recognition. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work safely and foster the safety culture to achieve safety excellence
  • Administer safety program including incentive program, incident investigation and reporting, OSHA compliance, workers comp tracking and reporting, and drug testing
  • Administer various human resource programs, personnel policies and procedures
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives and systems - promote cost consciousness and expense reduction
  • Manage FMLA, disability claims, workers comp claims, unemployment claims
  • Conduct recruitment efforts for nonexempt and temporary associates, manage staffing levels, conduct new associate orientations and onboarding
  • Manage employee relations - performance management, investigations, exit interviews
  • Assist in problem resolution and incorporating continuous quality improvement principles into daily quality culture
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings, shift communication meetings and other meetings as required
  • Assist in benefits enrollment and answering general benefits questions
  • Process weekly time and attendance to support accurate payroll
  • Address associate concerns, resolve problems, train, coach and discipline associates; make recommendations for hiring and terminations
  • Maintain personnel files and human resource information system records and compile reports from the database
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment law
  • Frequent interaction with associates at all levels of the organization
  • Assure compliance with state and federal regulatory matters including OSHA, EPA, EEO, Affirmative Action, Quality Audits
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management or HR preferred.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR Certification preferred.
  • 3-5 Years of HR Experience required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong MS Office and HRIS systems knowledge
  • Good organizational skills, task and detail oriented
  • Demonstrated ethical conduct and confidentiality
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Able to influence without direct authority
  • Capable of delivering constructive criticism

Valid driver's license required

Job Location / Working Conditions / Equipment:

Work will be performed in an office operating standard office equipment including a desktop or laptop computer, phone, printers, scanners and cameras as well as in a manufacturing setting.  Ability to climb towers of 75 feet and bend and lift 25 pounds occasionally.  Able to travel by car or airplane for six hours occasionally.  Available to support 24/7 manufacturing operation.
