SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Legislative Office Director and closely with the Office Coordinator to provide a wide variety of complex, and confidential administrative support in all aspects directly related to business operations. This position supports the activities of the Legislative Branch by utilizing excellent customer service to both internal and external contacts. The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The Administrative Assistant will have the ability to work independently on projects, from conception to completion, and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters while exercising independent judgment, discretion, decision-making, initiative, and tact.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 4 years administrative related experience in a professional office setting providing customer service in Tribal government administration, business administration, or public administration. Associate’s degree in business administration, or public administration and 2 years’ administrative related experience in a professional office setting with experience in Tribal Government Administration preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have experience multi-tasking and prove the ability to work independently and efficiently in an administrative role in a professional setting. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have an excellent work history with an excellent attendance record. Must be proficient with computer skills, experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Experience with Microix a plus. Must have excellent clerical and organizational skills with attention to detail. Must have the ability to read and interpret technical procedures, and government rules and regulations. Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may periodically include some evenings or weekends. Must be able to take mail to the post office or files to the register of deeds office if necessary.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to effectively present clear and accurate information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES: Familiar with local Native American culture and community. Ability to speak Anishinaabemowin a plus.

ABOUT US: On Sept. 21, 1994, the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians (LTBB) was federally reaffirmed with the signing of Public Law 103-324. The Tribe is governed by a nine-member Tribal Council who serve staggered terms. The LTBB Government presently employs over 200 employees across more than 20 departments, ranging from Healthcare to Natural Resources.
