Summer Reading Kickoff: "A Carnival of Characters"

Get ready to embark on an all-ages adventure at the Petoskey District Library's Summer Reading Kickoff on Friday, June 6! We're celebrating the start of a summer filled with reading by bringing together characters from books, movies, and television. 

Meet and greet costumed characters:

* The Star Wars 501st Legion (including Darth Vader and Chewbacca)
* The Ghostbusters will be there along with their Ectomobile, ready to bust some literary ghosts
* Travel through time with a DeLorean, a la “Back to the Future"
* Dive into fantasy with Phantom the Mermaid, sharing tales from under the sea
* Howl with Thunder the Timberwolf from North Central Michigan College

Costumes Encouraged: Everyone is invited to dress up as their favorite character. Whether you're into sci-fi, fantasy, mystery, or anything in between, show off your literary spirit!

Family-Friendly Games and Activities:

* “Wicked” Character Scavenger Hunt: Follow clues hidden throughout the labyrinth to answer a riddle
* Yard games from our Library of Things

Big Tasty Treats will be there selling ice cream and the Friends of the Petoskey Public Library will be providing a free book to every child too! This kickoff party promises to be an unforgettable experience for book lovers of all ages. Join us as we celebrate the power of reading and the adventures that await us in the pages of a book!
