“Movie Mondays: Art and Design Films” continues at Crooked Tree Arts Center with a screening of “Tim’s Vermeer.”
“Tim’s Vermeer” is a documentary film directed by Teller, of Penn & Teller fame, and produced by his stage partner Penn Jillette and Farley Ziegler. The film focuses on inventor Tim Jenison’s efforts to duplicate the painting techniques of Johannes Vermeer in order to test his theory that Vermeer painted with the help of optical devices.
Johannes Vermeer, a Dutch painter who specialized in domestic interior scenes of middle-class life, was a moderately successful artist during his relatively short life. Vermeer’s approach to painting was to work slowly and with great care, and he was renowned for his masterly treatment and use of light in his work.
CTAC Member and artist Bob Scudder will host the evening movie. Following the movie screening, Bob will lead a discussion about the film.
